Position Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

 

Location: Dublin

 

Job Information (incl. essential functions):

The successful candidate will lead the Infrastructure team and collaborate closely with the Business Applications and Data Management team leads, all of whom report to the SVP of ICT & Data Management. They will be responsible for managing the infrastructure supporting 140 users across two locations: Dublin and Hong Kong. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced engineer who can manage both on-premise and Azure infrastructure, handle vendor relationships, and communicate effectively with all levels of management. The successful candidate will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation, security, and efficiency of our IT systems.

 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • IT Infrastructure Management:
    – Oversee and manage all on-premise, Microsoft365 and Azure cloud infrastructure.
    – Serve as the first point of contact for infrastructure outages and ensure rapid resolution.
    – Manage relationships with various vendors including 24/7 SOC, Security Vendors, Managed services vendors, Mobile vendors, Telecoms Vendors, Firewall vendors, Virtual CISO, AV vendors, and other software vendors.
    – Review service contracts annually and prepare renewals for management approval.
    – Ensure all policies are up-to-date and effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
    – Manage IT assets, ensuring proper tracking, maintenance, and disposal.
    – Manage infrastructure costs within the annual IT budget, driving value from external vendors and minimizing expenses where possible.
    – Oversee IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
    – Ensure compliance with annual audit requirements.
  • Support Team Management:
    – Provide leadership and guidance to two support engineers, one based in Dublin and one in Hong Kong.
    – Ensure the support team is effectively managing day-to-day IT operations and user support, develop KPI’s, and conduct performance reviews.
    – Develop and maintain helpdesk policies, procedures, and documentation.

 

Role Requirements:

  • Education & Experience:
    – Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
    – Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, Cisco Certified
    – Network Associate – CCNA, CompTIA Security+).
    – At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management.
    – Extensive experience with both on-premise and Azure cloud infrastructure.
    – Proven experience in managing a diverse range of vendors.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    – Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, VPN, and security standards.
    – Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    – High level of professionalism and integrity.
    – Strong communication and leadership abilities.
    – Proficient in creating and delivering presentations and training materials.
  • Technologies Used:
    – Networking: Cisco, Fortinet.
    – Cloud Services: Azure.
    – Productivity Tools: Microsoft 365, Teams Rooms, Zoom.
    – Hardware: Surface Laptops, Dell Poweredge, Ricoh Printers, iPhones.
    – Security: Dark Trace Email Security, Microsoft Defender, Azure Entra ID.
    – Device Management: Intune.
